2026 Septic Installer Continuing Education Course

The 2026 Septic System Installer Continuing Education Course will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, at Southeastern Idaho Public Health, located at 1901 Alvin Ricken Dr., Pocatello, Idaho. The course will begin at 9:30 am and conclude around 12:30 pm. This course is free of charge. If you are unable to attend on this date, please contact SIPH for alternative options.

The State of Idaho requires licensed septic system installers to attend at least one continuing education class every three (3) years. Failure to stay current with continuing education requirements will result in the loss of your installer’s license.

Steps to obtain a Septic System Installer Permit
  • Complete the application.
  • Pay the fee.
    • $75.00 for a basic installer license
    • $75.00 for a complex installer license
  • Take the appropriate onsite septic system installer exam and pass with a score of 70% or better.
  • Submit the original Subsurface Sewage Disposal Installer Bond, made out to: State of Idaho, Director, Department of Environmental Quality, or His Designee. The bond must expire on December 31 of each year. The bond must be $10,000.00 for a basic installer and $30,000.00 for a complex installer.

- Scope: The Provisions of these rules establish limitations on the construction and use of individual and subsurface sewage disposal systems and establish the requirements for obtaining an installation permit and an installer’s registration permit. These rules apply to every individual and every subsurface blackwaste and wastewater treatment system in Idaho.
